Circa 1920, Josephine Berliner, the wife of the eminent engineer, inventor, and pilot--Henry Berliner, poses with the new family obsession--the helicopter or then better known as the Gyrocopter. She is expensively dressed in the fashions of the 1920s, not so typically situated, however.

Thank you so much for posting this. Josephine Mitchell Berliner was my grandmother, and I had never seen this photo. She’s even more beautiful than I remember.
It was part of the collections donated by Henry Berliner to the Air and Space Museum, which of course they make super difficult to access…
